Robert "Bobby" Fetzer

|
Bobby passed away on April 30th,
2006 at the young age of 50. He gave his family all the tools, and showed them
a few roads that they could take in life. He was a man
of diversity, always searching out new ideas in life and
business. He grew up on at his family’s ranch, where at
a young age he and his siblings took care of sheep,
cows, and old vineyards. Later, he and his family
started Fetzer Vineyards in 1968. He worked in
warehousing, vineyards, and grape acquisitions among
others, until the family felt the winery was getting too
large, and their lives were further distancing from the
rural life they once had.
Bobby always loved the land, and farming and ranching
was entwined in him. Every thing he farmed was either
done so Organically, or Biodynamically. The vineyards
and cattle he raised followed suit, and he called his
operation "Masút", which means dark rich earth in the
Pomo Indian language.
His wife and two boys joined him in the business, and
today are continuing to build upon the values and
principles he shared with them. |
